Primary Functions

The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding the Company’s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties

1. Will answer ambulance, non-emergency wheelchair, medivan, and rescue calls calmly,
efficiently and promptly. Must use diplomacy and tact at all times, and be courteous and
polite to patients, relatives, and friends.
2. Will rescue and extricate victims of accidents, sudden illness, or physical entrapment using proper rescue and medical techniques.
3. Will administer treatment to the patient at the scene and enroute to the hospital in accordance
with the training set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
4. Will maintain order at patient pick-up site and disperse crowds and restrain friends and
relatives, if necessary.
5. Will operate an emergency vehicle at a safe and controlled speed, in accordance with
established guidelines.
6. Will assure vehicles are in required working condition at all times; will assure vehicles are
stocked properly and equipment is in good working condition at all times.
7. Will complete patient care forms, insurance forms, and evaluation forms on all routine and
emergency calls in a competent and timely fashion.
8. Will ensure the campus and grounds are safe, neat and clean, presentable for the public to observe at any time.

Special/Physical Demands and Working Conditions

1. Must be in good physical condition.

2. May be required to work any day of the week, including holidays and weekends.

3. May be required to work any shift.

4. May be exposed to various hazards that are associated with the pre-hospital care of the sick and injured.

5. Must have tact and sympathy in dealing with a variety of types of patients, many of whom are in a disturbed condition.

6. Courtesy, cooperation, tact, and poise are required at all times. Careful attention to details, considerable initiative and judgment, maturity, and the ability to work under pressure when the situation demands.

7. Must have the physical ability to lift various patients (weight) on a two (2) person crew.

Prerequisites & Qualifications

1. Must possess and maintain current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

2. Must meet regional requirements to maintain Medical Command.

3. Must possess and maintain current CPR certification.

4. Must demonstrate a definite interest in the E.M.S. system and the improvement of that system.

5. Must demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with other employees, volunteers, general public and other Public Safety Agencies.

6. Must display a positive ability in the leadership of others and the teaching of others in the E.M.S. field.

7. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record.

Job Responsibilities Related to Patient Privacy

1. The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient and billing information in
accordance with the Company’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by
federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles or professionalism as a
health care provider. Failure to comply with the Company’s polices and procedures on patient
privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

2. The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to
the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in
your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.

3. The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any
concerns regarding the Company’s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.

4. The employee is expected to actively participate in Squad privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients and others in
accordance with Montrose Minute Men Inc policies.
